To Abrupt Endings

To the habits.
Remember that particular evening break?
After a long day of work, the only solace was
Waiting desperately for chaiwale kaka to come
To deliver us our much-needed chai-sutta break
Where we would vent the frustration out with the smoke
And breathe in the calm with the chai.
Here’s to comfortable silence.

To the people.
Remember how we first started talking?
Maybe it was a shared desk, or the blessing of being in one team,
Or just a feeling of being kindred souls.
From making silly inside jokes to bonding over mutual dislike,
We bridged the gap between ‘suno’ and ‘arre sun be’
With some love and some abuses.
Here’s to all the notes we passed.

To the place.
Remember this place we thought we hated?
The reception where we celebrated birthdays & bid farewells
Is still a bit envious about the conference room which held
Scary movie sessions & hysterical dumb-charades.
Oh, let’s not forget the secret floor that held so many
Intellectual and idiotic conversations.
Here's to all the laughter & tears.

Here’s to all the memories
Of the good times & the bad.
Here’s to having closure
For better or for worse.
Here’s to goodbye,
For once and for all.
